Last Day Defeat
The 1st XI slumped to a last day defeat at home to St Fagans, but still did enough to qualify for a place in the new South Wales Cricket Premier League, which sees the the top 5 sides in East and West Wales combining in a new 10 team Premier League.
Centurions batted first but with a couple of absentees and the normally reliable batting line up not getting started, it was a disappointing end to the season. Skipper Jamie Sylvester, batting down the order, was top scorer with 39 not out, but no-one else showed the same form - resulting in wickets falling with regularity. The last wicket fell with just 120 runs on the board. Smith (6 for 27) and Rajpal, with 2 for 26, did the damage for the visitors.
In reply St Fagans lost only one wicket in reaching the target. Glamorgan's Tom Maynard top scored with 73 not out, supported by Beaverstock (32 not out).

The 1st XI travelled to Usk and the home side completed the double over Sully and gained some revenge for last month's Twenty/20 Cup defeat.
Usk batted first, with James (an excellent 114) and Clayton (63) being the main scorers. Ryan Sylvester bowled well, taking 2 for 27 from his ten overs. Jamie Sylvester (1 for 41) Richard Ready (3 for 64) and a run out left the home side on 238 for 6 after the 50 overs.
The Centurions' response was a faltering one. Lloyd Smith (24), Ryan Sylvester (18) Richard Ready (18) and James Langworth (14) all made starts, but only Andrew Davies, with 41, was able to stick around. The game was wrapped up in the 32nd over when the last wicket went down for 156.

The 1st XI travelled to Sudbrook for the Bank Holiday fixture and were up against the weather as they attempted to get the match won before the rains came down with a vengeance.
The home side were restricted to 158 for 9, thanks to a very good fielding performance from all of the Centurions side. The bowlers were on top right from the start and Ryan Sylvester was the pick of the Sully attack, returning figures of 4 for 35. He was admirably supported by Tom Evison and Richard Ready, who took two wickets each.
The skies were looking ominous as Centurions started their reply, but Ryan was in a hurry to get the game won - hitting a wonderful 106 not out, ably supported by Gareth Sullivan (24 not out) as Centurions romped home for the loss of just one wicket. When the rains eventually did come down it was too late to save Sudbrook.

The Twenty/20 competition at Usk involved Bournemouth from the south, Mochdre from North Wales, and Sully. Although Centurions lost both games all matches went to the last over, with Bournemouth eventual winners of the round robin and they now progress to the last 12 of the National Cockspur Cup.
Centurions lost by 6 runs to Bournemouth - with David Eskins posting figures of 3 for 17 and Jamie Sylvester 2 for 19. Richard Ready hit an excellent 63 not out. It was another close call in the other match with Mochdre winning off the last ball. David Eskins took 3 for 27 and Gareth Sullivan hit a very good 57 not out.

Centurions Defy Conditions To Register Win
The 1st XI hosted Pentyrch in tricky, damp, conditions at Burnham Avenue. Batting first, the visitors reached 33 before the loss of Grosset to a Jamie Sylvester catch off the bowling of Dave Eskins. The score had moved on to 51 when the same combination struck again to dismiss Wadlan for 10. Wicket fell with regularity, with Lloyd Smith bagging 4 for 35 in his 10 overs. All of the bowlers chipped in and Andrew Davies wrapped up the innings with the last wicket to post figures of 2 for 13 as Pentyrch were all out for just 118 in the 41st over.
After tea Centurions lost the wicket of Ryan Sylvester in the first over, in controversial circumstances. The umpire called 'over' and Ryan stepped out of his crease. The wicketkeeper broke the stumps and the square leg umpire gave Ryan out. After consulting with the other umpire Ryan was given out. Putting this behind them Jamie Sylvester and Lloyd Smith put on 44 for the second wicket before Jamie was caught off the bowling of Wadlan for 25. Sully found the going just as hard as Pentyrch had, as again wickets began tumbling. Lloyd Smith reached 25 to be joint top scorer with Jamie, but Centurions found the runs hard to come by. Eventually Matthew Thomas (14 not out) and Dave Eskins, with 13 not out, saw Centurions home for the loss of 8 wickets.

Ton for Lloyd in Winning Draw
The 1st XI entertained Tondu at Burnham Avenue and rattled up a big score against the side currently in 11th position in the Premier Division. Lloyd Smith hit 133 and skipper Jamie Sylvester got 76, putting on 200 for the second wicket as the visiting attack wilted. Tom Evison's 40 not out helped the score along to 282 for 4 after 45 overs, when Jamie decided to declare. This decision was taken in order to give the bowlers the maximum time to get the ten Tondu wickets that were necessary for an outright win.
There then followed a great performance in the field, in which all Centurions' bowlers contributed. No bowler went for any more than 28, with the best figures being 3 for 11 from Tom Evison and 2 for 27 from Ryan Sylvester. Tondu kept losing wickets, but an 8th wicket stand of 40 between Close (28) and Wadlan (24) allowed the visitors to reach 155 for 8 at close of play. Morgan (24) and Evans, with 20, were the other notable scorers for Tondu as they secured the draw. Not even a wicket from Shae Ellis in the final over could help Centurions grab the victory. Sully took the lion's share of the points, but with Cardiff winning again, the full win (and the accompanying points) was what was needed.

Centurions March on in Twenty/20
Centurions travelled to Newport on Sunday for the South Wales Premier League Final of the Twenty-20 Cockspur National Competition.
After beating Blackwood comfortably by 24 runs they faced the old enemy Usk for a place in the Area Final and this produced some real fireworks.
Usk batted first and what a start. Claydon played the supporting role with Australian partner Burrell, and they raced to 96 off just 10 overs, but things changed dramatically at 100.
Claydon was lbw for 31, then at 115 came the big wicket of Burrell bowled by Smith for 73. On the same score, Watkin, not his normal self but very quiet, was also bowled by Smith for 0.
Usk began to struggle as Evison captured 3 wickets, Jamie Sylvester bowled his 4 overs for a mere 18, and Usk finished on a disappointing score - for them - of 148 for 7.
A delighted Centurions set about the target in style with Ryan Sylvester and Lloyd Smith smashing the ball to all parts of the ground.
Smith, with a brilliant 81 and Ryan Sylvester 58 not out, took Centurions to a dramatic victory by 9 wickets and 4.3 overs to spare.
Centurions now face Bournemouth from the South and Mochdre from North Wales at Usk on August 30 in the Area Final.

The 1st XI made the short trip to Penarth and recorded a ten wicket win to get the season back on track.
Penarth struggled to get going, with only Erasmus, who scored 24 not out and Bradshaw (33) making anything like a decent individual score. Following some good, accurate, bowling from Jamie Sylvester (3 for 14) and Andrew Davies (3 for 29) they limped to 97 all out.
Centurions wasted no time in reaching the target, with Ryan Sylvester (77 not out) and Jamie Sylvester (21 not out) steering them home in a very short space of time.
