Great Win For Sully
Centurions came away from the trip to Ammanford with a fine 4 wicket victory - in spite of both Jamie and Ryan Sylvester having injuries. Ryan was nursing a fractured thumb, but this didn't stop him giving his all for the cause and Jamie dislocated a finger during the game, but came back to steer Centurions to victory.
Ammanford won the toss and batted first, reaching 189 all out, with Maloney (51) Salter (49) and Davies (21) being the main run scorers for the home side. Richard Ready took 3 wickets for 33 to be Sully's most successful bowler. Richard also picked up a run out and was ably supported by the rest of the attack, most notably skipper Mike O’Shea, who took 3 wickets in one over to transform his bowling figures, ending on 3 for 43. Alex Wharf bowled 10 overs, which included 5 maidens, to finish with figures of 1 for 17. The other wickets came from Lloyd Smith and Ryan Ryan Sylvester, who didn't let his injury stop him posting figures of 1 for 22 off his 9 overs.
After tea Mike O’Shea (38) and Ryan Sylvester (16) shared a stand of 45 for the first wicket and then Mike and Mike Powell (19) took the score along to reach 83. Then a middle order collapse left Centurions reeling at 86 for 4. By the time Jamie Sylvester returned to fray, with his finger strapped up the score was 118 for 6.
Jamie batted through the pain barrier to make a match winning 43 not out, sharing a seventh wicket stand of 72 with Richard Ready, who finished on 38 not out. For Ammanford, Salter finished with figures of 3 for 50.
If Centurions go on to win the championship, they will look back at this victory, achieved against the odds, as the day it all came together.

Centurions Into Semis
Centurions chased down a big total to win the Gwalia Welsh Cup quarterfinal at Burnham Avenue against Briton Ferry Steel. The visitors were put into bat and soon got to grips with the Sully attack. Harris and Williams put on 76 for the first wicket, when Williams was trapped LBW by Jamie Sylvester for 39. Then Harris shared a half-century stand with Pass until Harris became the first of four victims for Owen Dawkins, being caught on the boundary by Liam Woolls for a well-made 76. Runs and wickets continued to appear on the board and when the 45 overs were complete Briton Ferry had amassed a very handy 253 for 7, a formidable total for Centurions to chase.
Jamie and Ryan Sylvester carried on where they had left off on Saturday and began the innings in a determined mood, with Ryan blasting the ball to all corners of the ground and Jamie happy to play support in the initial stages. They took the score to 169 before Ryan was bowled by Frankland for 113 in the 30th over. Jamie was joined by Lloyd Smith and they continued to dispatch the visiting attack with regularity. The victory was achieved in the 43rd over, with Jamie on 96 not out and Lloyd finishing on 32 not out. A great victory which takes Centurions to the semi final.

Huge Total Gets 1st XI Back on Track
The 1st XI scored a huge total at Burnham Avenue against Ynysygerwn and picked up another 20 points to get the championship back in their sights.
Batting first, Centurions' regular opening pairing of Ryan and Jamie Sylvester put on 140 for the first wicket, with the ball making the trip to the boundary on regular occasions. Ryan eventually went for 89, including ten 4s and two 6s. Jamie was joined by Mike Powell and the two of them continued the entertainment with an impressive batting display. At the end of the 50 overs, Jamie was not out for 124, which included 15 boundaries and Mike had reached an unbeaten 64, to end on 281 for 1. This was always going to be a difficult total for the visitors to chase.
After tea, the bowlers set about the task of getting the victory. Alex Wharf bowled an incredible 12 overs for just 5 runs, picking up two wickets. There were also wickets for Jamie Sylvester (2 for 42) Owen Dawkins (2 for 32) and Richard Ready (1 for 35). A run out, from Lloyd Smith brought the other wicket, but in spite of trying every trick in the book, the last two wickets did not materialise and the visitors hung on for the draw. A spirited 71 from opener McCormack was the highlight of the Ynysygerwn innings.

Losing Draw at St Fagans
The big guns came out for the trip to St Fagans, as both Matthew and Tom Maynard played for the home side and for the first time in the league both Glamorgan allocated players (Adam Shantry and Mike Powell) played for Centurions.
Batting first, St Fagans reached 231 for the loss of 5 wickets, with Tom Maynard top scoring with 63, Matthew Maynard hitting an unbeaten 54 and Andrew Leering getting 56. Ryan Sylvester bowled an accurate spell of 2 for 38, with Alex Wharf contributing a miserly 1 for 12 off 8 overs to set up an intriguing second session.
But with Scott Edmed (4 for 18) and Leering (2 for 13) getting stuck in to the Centurions top order there was a complete collapse at 72 for 6. Then Adam Shantry (who hit a good 84) came to the rescue and this, along with a solid performance from Jamie Sylvester (37 not out) gave the score some respectability and the draw was achieved - finishing on 177 for 7. Although the majority of the points were claimed by St Fagans, Centurions got a welcome boost to the title ambitions as Pontarddulais lost their match to slip to 3rd place behind Centurions and Ammanford.

Centurions Still Top After Comprehensive Victory
The 1st XI's trip to Usk was rewarded with a convincing win by 106 runs. Mike O'Shea and Ryan Sylvester shared an opening stand of 47 and following Ryan's departure for 24, Mike contnued to score freely, putting on another 62 with Mike Powell for the second wicket, when Powell went for 31. This triggered a mini-collapse, for skipper O'Shea went for a well made 60, with no more runs on the board, followed 5 runs later by Gareth Sullivan for a duck - and at 124 for 4 the balance had swung firmly in the home side's favour.
However, a fine partnership of 96 between Lloyd Smith (52) and Richard Ready (57 not out) swung the momentum back to Centurions. The innings ended on 249 for 6, a decent score that gave the bowlers something to defend. Roderick and Watkins, who both picked up 2 wickets were Usk's best bowlers.
The Usk innings got off to a bad start, with both openers falling victim to Ryan Sylvester with only 22 runs on the board. James (29) and Jones (30) top scored for the hosts as Ryan and Jamie Sylvester picked up wicket after wicket. The last wicket fell when the total was 143, which gave Sully a resounding victory and maximum points once again. The Sylvester brothers accounted for 8 wickets between them - Ryan had 4 for 37 and Jamie 4 for 30.
This impressive victory strengthens the club's position at the top of the table.

Centurions Ease Through
Sully faced Panteg in the 4th round of the Gwalia Welsh Cup at Burnham Avenue and progressed to the open draw 5th round thanks to great performances from the Sylvester brothers and Lloyd Smith.
The visitors batted first on an overcast afternoon and were soon in trouble when Liam Wools took the wicket of Bird for just 1 in the second over. Worrad then shared some useful partnerships with the middle order, guiding Panteg to 211 for 4 after 39 overs, when the rains came, causing an early tea to be taken. Worrad finally fell to Jamie Sylvester for a well-made century in the first over after tea. Jamie had taken 1 for 15 in his first 6 over spell, but after the restart he came back with a vengeance to take a further 5 wickets to end on a fantastic 6 for 23. The Panteg innings ended on 232 all out after the allotted 45 overs.
The usual opening pair of Jamie and Ryan Sylvester got the Centurions innings underway and things were progressing steadily until the fifth over when Jamie skied a ball off Mee to be caught by Murphy for 11, with score on 17. Skipper Mike O’Shea joined Ryan and they put on 28 before he became the second of Mee’s victims – caught by Armstrong for 16 – and it was 45 for 2 after 11 overs.
This brought Lloyd Smith to the crease and he and Ryan began the task of rebuilding the innings in the face of some tight bowling from the Panteg bowlers. Ryan, playing a restrained and disciplined innings, played anchor as Lloyd went for his shots, peppering the boundary with some superb stroke play. Lloyd reached his half-century first and Ryan followed suit a little while later. The pair put on 150 for the 3rd wicket and by the time Ryan was out for a well crafted 78 the hard work had been done. Richard Ready joined Lloyd Smith and they steered Centurions home in the 41st over – Lloyd bringing up the winning runs in style, hitting Parfitt for a six to end on a superb 106 not out.

Centurions Dig in for Hard Fought Victory
Centurions entertained Port Talbot in a match that ebbed and flowed before victory was achieved in the last over, ensuring that top spot in the Swalec Premier League was maintained.
Ryan Sylvester made the breakthrough in the first over, taking the wicket of Ian Thomas with just one run on the board. Liam Wools chipped in with the wicket of Cherry for 1 and it was 5 for 2 after just 2 overs. Then a century stand between Mark Cox and Anthony Thomas put the visitors right back in the match. Cox continued the good work, putting on 50 along with Dean Cox before two wickets fell for just three runs to leave the game poised at 184 for 5 with ten overs remaining. Mark Cox was eventually out in the last over for a well-taken 94, falling victim to Lloyd Smith, who took two wickets in three balls to reduce Port Talbot to 233 for 9 at the end.
After tea the Sully innings got off to a good start, with Ryan and Jamie Sylvester putting on 40 before Allen caught Ryan off the bowling of Phelps for 26. Jamie and Mike O’Shea shared a stand of 61 for the second wicket when Jamie fell victim to Tobin for 19. Mike was next to go – after hitting 62 – with the score on113. Lloyd Smith and Gareth Sullivan added 20, and then Lloyd and Richard Ready added another 34 for the 5th wicket to leave the score on 169 for 5 after 41 overs. Two quick wickets followed and things were looking awkward as Centurions were behind the run rate and still requiring 20 runs with three overs to go. Richard Ready and Jonathan Bussey kept their heads and Richard hit the winning runs with 5 balls to spare – finishing on a very good 49 not out.

XI’s match at Swansea was a high scoring affair, with both sides making the most of the conditions on a scorching hot day.
Having won the toss, the home side batted first and Rhodri Evans and Jack Sheppard set the standard with a century opening partnership, before Sheppard was run out just short of his half century. Evans was joined by Rhys Lloyd and the runs kept flowing, with another 100 being on the board before the next wicket fell – Lloyd falling to a Gareth Sullivan catch off skipper Mike O’Shea, when he had made 86. Rhodri Lloyd came and went for 4 (another O’Shea wicket, caught by Lloyd Smith) before Rowe (47 not out) joined the party and took the score to 327 for 3. Evans was still there on 131 not out at the end of the 50 overs. A fine innings which set the challenge for Centurions to follow.
After tea Ryan Sylvester and Mike O’Shea found the conditions to their liking and proceded to put bat to ball. Unusually, Ryan was not the fastest of the opening partners - and when Mike was run out with the score on 41, the skipper had scored 30 of them. This brought Lloyd Smith to the crease and he and Ryan launched an all out attack on the Swansea bowling. The pair put on 200 for the 2nd wicket before Ryan was caught by Rhodri Lloyd off Hayden for a magnificent 152. Gareth Sullivan joined Lloyd and the pair added another fifty until they were out in quick succession – Gareth run out for 22 and Lloyd LBW to Rowe, just 5 runs off what would have been a well deserved century. Richard Ready (12 not out) and Alex Wharf (5 not out) saw Centurions home with 5 overs to spare. This, combined with Pontarddulais losing, secures Centurions the top spot for another week.

Centurions Crash Out of Cup
Centurions welcomed Bath to Burnham Avenue on a hot Sunday afternoon for the 3rd Round of the ECB National Club Championship. This was an eagerly awaited clash which both sides were obviously up for.
Batting first Sully reached 36 before Ryan Sylvester was caught by Stayt off the bowling of Kelly for 26. Mike O’Shea joined Jamie Sylvester and they put on 50 for the second wicket when Mike was out for 30. Lloyd Smith was then unfortunate to see the ball roll back and gently knock the bails off after he had played a defensive shot. Jamie remained steadfast, but the middle order didn’t get going, with wickets starting to fall regularly. Jamie was finally out – LBW to Davies - for a very good 86. David Eskins, batting at number nine, gave some impetus at the end with an entertaining knock of 41 not out, which included some spectacular boundaries, to take Sully to 226 for 9 at the end of the 45 overs. Kelly, with 3 for 51, was the most successful Bath bowler.
After tea, with the England world cup match still in progress (and the least said about that the better!) Bath reached 48 for the first wicket. A couple of quick wickets gave Sully some hope, but Mike Smyth took a liking to the bowling, hitting an unbeaten 94. He was supported well by Griffiths who hit 36, and the pair saw Bath home in the 44th over.

Centurions Maintain Top Spot
The 1st XI made the short trip to Cardiff and came away convincing winners by 6 wickets. After winning the toss, Cardiff elected to bat. Huw Williams set the ball rolling for Sully with the wicket of Howells, caught by Mike O’Shea for 9, with the score on 22. Then the home side fought back, as first Shea (42) and Kirtley (67) put on 50 for the 2nd wicket and then Kirtley and Carter added 73 for the fourth wicket to give Cardiff some stability. But, with skipper O’Shea sharing the bowling around, Sully eventually got the upper hand. Roger Clitheroe took five catches behind the stumps and there were 2 wickets each for Ryan Sylvester, Jonathan Bussey and Lloyd Smith. Huw Williams, Owen Dawkins and Jamie Sylvester all chipped in with one wicket each and with Forbes falling victim to Ryan Sylvester’s arm for a run out, the Cardiff innings closed on 210 all out.
The Centurions innings began badly and the normally reliable Jamie Sylvester went for just one, followed quickly by Mike O’Shea for 0. At 12 for 2 things were looking bad for Sully – but Ryan Sylvester and Lloyd Smith put on 50 for the third wicket before Ryan fell two short of his half century. This brought Gareth Sullivan to the crease and he and Lloyd proceeded to take charge of the home bowling as they put together a stand of 128, before Gareth fell for 68, with the score on 193.
It was left to Lloyd (68 not out) and Alex Wharf to see Centurions home with 7 overs to spare. Chaudhary, with 2 for 27, was the best of the home bowlers, as the rest took a bit of a hammering from the Sully batsmen. A fine victory, which consolidates Centurions’ position at the top of the Swalec Premier League table.

Tom is the Hero in Cup Win
Tom Evison emerged as the Centurion hero in this victory over Bridgend in the Welsh Cup at Burnham Avenue. Batting first, things were looking fine as Jamie and Ryan Sylvester put on 59 for the first wicket before Ryan was bowled for 40. After putting on another 20 with Lloyd Smith, Jamie became the first of an incredible 5 run outs when went for 15. The same fate fell to Gareth Sullivan and Richard Ready, with Lloyd falling to a smart caught behind for 17 and the score went from 79 for 2 to 86 for 5. This brought Tom Evison and Chris Thorne together and they rebuilt the innings with a partnership of 97 before Chris was himself run out for 35. Alex Wharf, batting down the order due to a back problem, lasted only one ball, being caught on the boundary off the bowling of Humphries. Tom then put on 41 with David Eskins (17) and with Owain Lovering being the fifth run out, Lloyd Bruce was LBW first ball to Weaver to leave the total on 231 all out.
After tea (curry and rice anyone?) it looked like Bridgend were going to make a fist of it as Humphries and Joubert put on 30 for the first wicket. But with Steptoe, Moore and Jones going cheaply, it was left to Humphries (61) and Russell (52) along with former Centurion Andrew Davies (37) to sustain the Bridgend innings.
Tom Evison added to his batting performance with a haul of 3 wickets for 34. With 3 for 31 from Jamie Sylvester and a wicket each for Ryan Sylvester, David Eskins and Lloyd Bruce, the visitors finished 33 runs behind. We now play Panteg or Croesyceiliog in the next round, which is the zone final, on 7th July at Sully.

Ryan Steers Centurions Back to the Top
Centurions bounced back in style after last week’s defeat to reclaim top position in the SWALEC Premier League, following this fantastic victory over title rivals Pontarddulais, who included Glamorgan legend Robert Croft in their ranks.
The visitors batted first and were soon in trouble as Ryan Sylvester took the wickets of Law and Carey to leave Pontarddulais on 57 for 2. But a 97 run partnership between Roberts and Harrison gave momentum to the visitors’ innings until Centurions’ wicket keeper Roger Clitheroe caught Roberts off the bowling of Jamie Sylvester for a well-made 77. Harrison continued the good work when he and Arrowsmith added 82 for 4th wicket before being bowled by Alex Wharf for 88.
Owen Dawkins had Arrowsmith caught by Lloyd Smith for 39 and the innings closed on 240 for 5.
That man Ryan Sylvester joined with Alex Wharf to share an opening stand of 143. Ball after ball was despatched to the boundary, including a six over the houses from Alex Wharf off Robert Croft’s first delivery. Wharf was finally stumped off the bowling of Roberts for 53. After a brief innings from Mike Powell, Ryan combined with Lloyd Smith (36 not out) to steer Centurions home. Ryan ended on a magnificent 133 not as Centurions claimed an 8-wicket victory in the 35th over.

Gareth Stars in Big Cup Win
Centurions travellled to Gloucestershire to meet Hatherley & Reddings in the 2nd Round of the ECB National Club Championship and came away with a great 150 run victory.
Batting first on a hot, humid afternoon Centurions once again got off to a good start. Ryan Sylvester followed up his Saturday half century with a great 66 as he and brother Jamie put on 87 for the first wicket. The Centurion batsmen all made a contribution to the total, with Lloyd Smith (21), Mike O’Shea (26) and Jamie Sylvester (19) helping to push the score along. Then an entertaining partnership of 61 between Alex Wharf and Gareth Sullivan kept the momentum going all the way to the final few overs. Alex was finally out for 38, but Gareth Sullivan continued to hit the boundary at regular intervals, supported ably by Richard Ready (21 not out). After a little local rain had delayed proceedings for a few minutes, Gareth was still unbeaten on 86 when the innings closed on an impressive 302 for 5.
All of the home bowling figures took a bit of a hammering, but the pick of the bunch was Rob Burford, who posted figures of 3 for 58.
After tea Hatherley & Reddings set about the task of overhauling the big total. However, in spite of some determined batting, the wickets began to fall at regular intervals and it was soon plain that the asking rate was getting harder to achieve. Some tight bowling and excellent work in the field by Centurions kept the pressure on the home side. Hatherley & Reddings didn’t give up without a fight and to their credit, they took the game into the last over, after Baker (24) and Rudge (17 not out) had added 25 for the last wicket.
All of the Centurion bowlers contributed, with Mike O’Shea bagging 3 for 16, with good work from Ryan Sylvester, Richard Ready and Jonathan Bussey, who picked up two wickets each.

The first XI travelled to Newport, having being unbeaten throughout May and sitting proudly on top of the Swalec Premier League. But the first Saturday in June brought a reversal in fortune as the hosts claimed a winning draw, with Centurions failing to hit top gear.
Newport batted first and a fantastic 2nd wicket partnership of 150 between Wood (82) and Hassan (100) set them up for a big score. However, they didn’t capitalise on this and the total of 236 for 6 was lower than they would have expected. Mike O’Shea took 4 for 48 as Centurions looked to have weathered the storm and gave themselves a fighting chance of victory.
Sully’s innings got off to a great start as Ryan Sylvester (51) and brother Jamie put on 82 for the first wicket. Decent contributions from O’Shea, Wharf, Ready and Sullivan helped push the score along. However, with two late wickets falling for three runs, just as the final push was on, Centurions were left high and dry 16 runs behind as the innings closed on 220 for 9.

Twenty/20 Triumph for Centurions
Ryan Sylvester was the hero of the first Cockspur 20/20 match against Cardiff on Sunday. His 74 not out plus three wickets for 29 runs capped a magnificent display, as Centurions swept Cardiff aside in the opening match. Richard Ready's 49 not out and 34 for Alex Wharf ensured a big Centurions total of 192 for 3. Huw Carter, with 2 for 25, was the home side's best bowler
In response, Cardiff pressed hard for the runs. But apart from a great 63 from Nick Shea and 40 from Alun Thomas, there were no other scores of note. Ryan's three wickets, plus 3 for 23 from brother Jamie, 2 for 13 from Alex Wharf and one wicket for Jon Denning ensured a Centurions victory, as Cardiff finished 38 runs short.

Lloyd then shared a century partnership with Alex Wharf who was caught for 48 off the bowling of Tobin. Lloyd finished on a magnificent 93 not out as Centurions' innings closed on another formidable score of 194 for 5.
Port Talbot’s innings never really recovered from the loss of Phelps (LBW to Ryan Sylvester for 0) with only 2 runs on the board. Three wickets each for Tom Evison (3 for 14) and Jon Denning (3 for 15) along with one for David Eskins and one for Alex Wharf ensured Centurions victory. Centurions Made to Work Hard For Points
On the hottest day so far this season Centurions came away from Ynysygerwn with the lion's share of the points, but a stubborn late order resistance meant that maximum points were denied.
Batting first Centurions had decent contributions from all of the batsmen, with Mike Powell (63) Gareth Sullivan (33) and Richard Ready (42) being the pick of the bunch. A big total of 283 for 9 was on the board as the innings closed. Craig Evans (3 for 44) and Gareth Davies (3 for 35) were undoubtedly the pick of the home side's bowlers.
The Ynysygerwn innings faltered at first and at 125 for 6 it looked a foregone conclusion, but Nicholas Maggs and Mark Davies put on 88 for the 7th wicket to frustrate Sully. The elusive last wicket was not to come as the home side hung on for a draw. Ryan and Jamie Sylvester picked up 3 wickets each for Sully, backed up by Tom Evison's miserly 2 for 36 off 12 overs. Maximum points wre missed, however the points that were won mean that Centurions remain top of the table.

Huge Win In Cup
Centurions again produced a steamroller of a batting display to progress to the 2nd round of the ECB National Club Championships, with a 138 run victory over Ynysygerwn.
After losing Ryan Sylvester for 12 in the fourth over and Lloyd Smith for 15 a few overs later, Jamie Sylvester took control. He shared a stand of exactly 100 with Alex Wharf (57) and continued to pile on the runs until he was eventually bowled by the visitors' best bowler, Simmonds, for a magnificent 135. The middle and late order, although not producing any more big individual scores, combined to push the total past the 300 mark when the innings was closed after the allotted 45 overs.
The visitors' response was positive. A good opening partnership between McCormack (38) and Williams (49) got the scoreboard ticking over and at 104 for 3 at the halfway stage, it was still looking like a contest. However, the Centurions bowlers eventually took control and wickets began falling with some regularity. Dave Eskins bowled a tight line and was unlucky not to have picked up more than his one wicket. Jonathan Bussey (2 for 52) and Tom Evison were also bowling success stories. A word, also for wicket keeper Roger Clitheroe, who took three stumpings - all off the bowling of Tom Evison, who finished with figures of 3 for 12. However, that man Jamie Sylvester was not to be left out of the picture and he followed up his batting heroics with 3 for 26 as the visitors ended on 166 all out in the 39th over.

The 1st XI beat St Fagans to record another victory and stay on top of the Swalec Premier Cricket League. After being put in to bat by St Fagans, Sully lost the opening pair of Jamie and Ryan Sylvester with 58 on the board. This brought Mike Powell and Lloyd Smith together. They put on a century for the 3rd wicket when Lloyd was caught by Slade off the bowling of Ransley for 51. Mike was eventually out for well taken 70 ,with the score on 176. Richard Ready then shared a couple of decent partnerships with Alex Wharf (21) and Adam Shantry (12) and the innings closed on 253 for 9, with Ready not out on 35. For the visitors, Edmed was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 37.

Skipper Mike O'Shea led from the front with a fine century as Centurions beat Usk convincingly on a cold and blustery afternoon at Burnham Avenue. Ryan and Jamie Sylvester set the pace, putting on 71 for the first wicket, before both fell within a few runs - Ryan LBW to Lee for 43 and Jamie playing on to Watkins for 24 with the score on 83. Then Mike and Lloyd Smith added another 83 for the 3rd wicket when Lloyd was run out for 36. Centurions in Fine Form at Port Talbot
The new SWALEC league got underway with Centurions throwing down a marker to all comers. A fine batting performance saw 337 runs put on the board for the loss of just 5 wickets. Phelps and Tobin, with two wickets apiece, were the home side's best bowlers.
In reply Port Talbot found the going tough in the damp conditions and in spite of an impressive 79 from Thomas and a stubborn 31 from Cox, the wickets kept falling. Jamie Sylvester and Alex Wharf bagged 3 wickets each, but a dogged rearguard action by the lower order prevented Centurions taking maximum points.
